FlexSlider, WordPress and jQuery

I like FlexSlider, it is a simple and yet powerful solution for adding slides to a website.

It has been lately acquired by WooThemes, and kept as free software downloadable through their site. Unfortunately it does not work out of the box with WordPress.

On the demo page it is shown how to make it work as a stand alone package, in combination with jQuery 1.6.2.

<script charset="utf-8" type="text/javascript">
$(window).load(function() {
  $('.flexslider').flexslider({
    animation: "slide"
  });
});
</script>

At the present WordPress comes pre-packaged with jQuery 1.10.2.

Luckily the solution is rather simple. Substitute the first line of the script as shown below.

<script type="text/javascript">
jQuery(document).ready(function($) {
  $('.flexslider').flexslider({
    animation: "slide"
  });
});
</script>

Done that, try again, and this time FlexSlider should work as expected.

It took a while for me to find out a solution. So hopefully this will help others.
